    The Dangers of Pressurized Fermentation/Transfers

Well, I’ve been fermenting in converted Sanke kegs for a couple of years now, and have had nothing but success. Until now. Being able to keep as much O2 out of the fermentation, and being able to transfer to a purged keg has (IMO) vastly improved the quality of my beer. Not only that, the...

Beersmith3 vs. BrewersFriend for Water Additions

Hey All! I know there are myriad threads about BS3 vs BF, but here's another one! :-P So, my specific question is: Being a Mac user and not having an easy way to access my Bru'n'Water spreadsheet, which program is more accurate in terms of water additions? I only use 100% RO on brew days, so...

    Blue Liquid from Copper CFC?

Hey All, Just starting a brew here, and got some blue liquid out of my copper CFC that’s been sitting for a few weeks... I flushed it out, but curious if it’s anything to be worried about. Haven’t mashed in yet, so I can still call off the brew day if needed. I’m assuming that a bit of...

    Water First or Grain First

Ok, this may seem super basic, but I’m very new to BIAB. Last time I brewed (first time BIAB-ing), I heater my water to mash temps, then added my grains. This resulted in a ton a dough balls, and was kind of a pain to deal with. In addition, I may have been over zealous in my stirring with my...

ISO: Terrapin TWD Blood Orange and Lucille

Hey All! The wife LOVES The Walking Dead, so I would love to get her some of Terrapin's TWD series beers. I can offer Russian River, Henhouse, Track 7, Alvarado St (maybe), Moonraker (maybe), Rare Barrel, Fieldwork, etc., etc. Or let me know if there's something else you're looking for, I can...

    WTB: Tired Hands "Teeth Goblet"

Anybody got one they'd like to part with? I finally was able to get my hands on one (they sell out fast), and it arrived yesterday. I was drinking my first beer it of it, and bam. over it went. Had it all of an hour. Oh well, that's my sob story, anyone got one they'd like to part with? Maybe I...

    California Sonoma/Marin Bottle Share/Beer Dinner!

Hey all! My buddy is putting on a "Craft Beer Dinner" this Friday, and we're putting together a little bottle share afterwards. Anyone interested? He'll be bringing a Dark Lord vertical, and I'm planning on bringing some Rare Barrel or Cellarmaker... It's THIS Friday (TOMORROW) at Sally...

    Upper limit for Dry Hopping?

So, I've got a couple of recipes from a great local brewery, and boy do they use a lot of dry hops! My question is, is there a real/theoretical upper limit of dry hops in a batch? Disregarding fermenter losses from hop trub, that is... For example, one recipe calls for a dry hop of 2oz per...

Inaugural Sonoma County Home Brewer's Competition

Great time so far at Sonoma's first homebrew competition! Feel like kind of a tool for not getting my **** together to enter... But there are a ton of great Brewers here! I won't be so lazy next year... Info here: http://www.petalumadowntown.com/SCHBC.html

    "Daisy Chained" Kegs?

This is totally theoretical at the moment, but is daisy-chaining kegs possible? Has anyone done it? What I'm thinking is, I'm expanding the brew system right now to go to 10 gallon batches, and I've got a few extra cornies lying around... I've though about replacing the cornies with sixtels...

    ISO: Heady Topper/Lunch/Dinner/Double Sunshine/etc.

Hey All, I'm sure this is one of the most popular posts here, but I'm interested in trying some East Coast IPAs. In terms of what I've got or can get, Pliny is on the list, as well as a bunch of other NorCal beers. Let me know what you want! Thanks in advance!

    Sanke 1/2bbl 15.5gal keg fermenter?

Hey all, I've been seeing some information pop up from time to time about converting a keg for use in fermentation. Sounds like an interesting idea! Specifically, I'm interested in these conversions: http://brewhardware.com/valves-69/137-tcsanke The bottom drain tri-clover fittings, with a...
