Amazon! Yeast will be at your door in two days. Making cider with substandard yeast makes substandard cider. Why bother? Better than that fresh pick some fruit, grind it up and let the wild yeast...

I did start with nutrients and a starter. Maybe shoulda used a second packet. I racked it into the secondary and it seems to be starting up again. I just need the basement to warm up a bit. Thanks....

I made a blueberry apple cider recently that had a O. G. Of 1.090

Made me wonder what's a high O. G. Anyone here start higher than 1.100?

Do these high O. G. ciders require wine/champagne yeast...

After a few weeks bubbles stopped and S. G. is 1.040

Is it stalled? Or perhaps the BAC is too high for the Notty?

This prevents over carbonation and bottle bombs

If you don't back sweeten and calculate the proper amount of priming sugar it's unneeded

But it's cheap...

I have never used k-meta sorbate or Camden tabs after fermentation. I almost always go dry and don't back sweeten. But I pasteurize all my bottle conditioned cider.

As for store juice I only use...

I had three last time and it was way over carbed. Previously 1 bottle out of 200 may have been the norm and some of these bottles have been used 3 or 4 times.

Yes. Heat Pasteurization can result in higher pressures released by the cap. Swing tops especially. I've lost carbonation in twist off bottles I've accidentally re-used.

I have 5 gal of Strawberry cider still in a car boy. Painfully dry! Tempted to jack it but not sure I was to give up all that cider. Wonder if the flavor would get lost in the discarded ice.

What was your starting ABV and how much did it get reduced? Cuz I started with 7-8% and reduced 5 g. to about 1.75 g. I estimate 20%. I can't imagine 60!

as long as it bubbled at first and you haven't opened it since there should be a layer of CO2. If it never really bubbled or if you've removed the airlock for testing/tasting then that is too much...
