Underneath my steps is about 65 and fluctuates 2 degrees on either side. Swamp cooler it is for me!

An hour to cool down isn't ideal, but it will be just fine.

Your main concern is keeping that ferment temperature...

I've always been under the understanding that you need to crash cool it to get some of the proteins out of the wort that can produce off flavors...
