Kind of off topic here... But the picture on your post on 12-05 in the middle or so.. The bubble formation looks like a Jason mask.. Kind of freaked me out when I saw it.

At my LHBS the difference between AG and Extract...

At my LHBS the difference between AG and Extract is between 7-10 dollars, the latter being the more expensive.

There have been a lot of posts on this subject. Some use a secondary some don't. And most will say the instructions out of a kit aren't always the best to follow as far as how long you should ferment...

I have an electric stove and have had no issues getting 4 gallons up to a nice rolling boil. Should be a non-issue depending on how old your stove is I would assume.

I'd take your brew kettle off your heat source...

I'd take your brew kettle off your heat source before adding your extract to avoid burning it. Also continuously stirring as your adding it helps as well. Just a suggestion, good luck and congrats on...

I noticed my first batch had a sour/metallic taste to it as well. I believe mine was from pulling it off the yeast cake to early and not allowing a good amount of time for the yeast to come behind...

I just recently brewed a Brewer's Best Irish Stout and it was my first time using dry yeast. It suggested re-hydrating before pitching so I did that and woke up the next morning with no fermentation....

Won't scraping it with an abrasive pad scratch off the protective seal that the aluminum pot has on it? Could add some off flavors to his next batch, can anyone confirm or deny this?
