Still trying to get the hang of Pro Mash. AG, batchsparge is my routine. I am brewing a batch today --2.5 gal. In the brew sesion PM gives me a total mash volume of 3.1gal. I believe this includes mash water and grain volume for a total vol. of 3.1 gal with 5lbs grain and 1.26 qts/lbs. To hit a mash temp of 154F I needed 170f strike water. OK them I heat water to 170f and pour into cooler tun with grain untill I hit the 3 gal mark on cooler. Stir a bit and take temp. Damn near 160f. WTF!. So I go to the stand alone calculator in PM and am told the strike water temp should be 170F but the total mash volume is only about two gallons. What the hell? Did I do something wrong. I swear, trying to do batch sparging with PM is a PIA.
