book on what exactly different ingredients do

i saw the sticky with all the data but im looking more for a recipes for dummies type application like if your beer is missing this add that. or when creating this certain beer these should be your choices on malt and this is what the flavor notes will be. i wouldnt doubt you could go quantam physics and have 1000 pages solely on yeast. im just looking for the meat and potatoes of information. im sure its been asked for 100 times just wasnt sure what to search for. tia adam
