I am going to try a new lemon lime beer recipe that I'm making up as I go along out and I was wondering the amount of flavoring to use for a 5 gal batch here it is:

I was going to boil down a 2L of 7up to around 2 cups so it is just the syrup
3.00 lb Extra Light Dry Extract
1.00 lb Wheat Dry Extract
2.00 lb Wheat, Flaked
1.49 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00%] (60 min)
??? oz Lemon peel (10 min)
??? oz Lime peel (10 min)
dry ale yeast

The recipe that I'm basing this on(below) uses .75 oz of orange peel but I have been told that lime and lemon are a lot stronger so I was wondering how much to use? any other tips on this recipe would also be appreciated.

I use 1 oz of fresh lemon zest in my lemon wheat which is pretty good. Not too strong but there is a good presence. I also use Grains of paradise to compliment and balance the zest.

I would say 0.25-.5 oz of each if you are using zest. Maybe go on the lower end since you aren't using any other spices such as coriander or GoP.

Just my thoughts.
