I experimented with a calculator on-line using some ingredients I have on hand. I'm wondering what STYLE this could be considered.

For a 5G boil, I came up with:
Color SRM= 27.5
Bitterness (IBU/Tinseth)= 71
ABV= 6.4
Yeast=1272 Am Ale II

For a 3.5G boil, I came up with:
IBU of 55.
Rest is the same

what's the recipe? sounds like a hoppy dark ale of sorts.

Well, playing with ingredients and hopping times.. but..
5# LDME
1# Munich
1# Honey Malt
1# Caramel 80
1# Crystal 50
.5# Carafa i

Hopping schedule is busted up to hopefully give some nice characteristics
but is 2ozMagnum, 2oz Cluster, 2oz Cascade

Looks like a slightly over hopped robust porter.

By BJCP standards, you wouldn't qualify as a IPA due to the color, but you wouldn't qualify as a porter due to the higher IBUs, so it's an "OTHER" style somewhere between the two.

I'd call it a Brown IPA or a Hoppy Robust Porter.

What did you intend to make?
