So, I made quite an off-the-cuff batch of beer last night. It is my first time brewing, and I tossed together a recipe on BeerSmith and went to work. Here is what is rumbling in my closet:
Steeped:
1lb Crystal 60L
.5lb Carapils
4oz Honey Malt
These were steeped in 3 gallons of 155 degree water for 30 min, then rinsed
with 1 quart of 160 degree water.
Extracts:
7lb Wheat LME
2.5lb Wheat DME
I added 1/2 the LME at the beginning, and the remainder at the 45 min boil mark.
Yeast:
WLP039 Nottingham Ale Yeast - 3 Liter starter
Hops:
1/2 oz Cascade for 60 min
1/2 oz Cascade for 30 min
Misc:
1 tsp Yeast Nutrient @ 50 min boil
1 tsp Irish Moss @ 50 min boil
1 gallon Apple Juice @ 0 min boil
My OG was 1.082, precisely BeerSmith's estimate.
I plan to rack to this to secondary when it hits around 1.012, along with about 3 total pounds of fruit, split between raspberries and golden delicious apples.
Yeah? You think this will be an abomination?
