    Boiling down to Volume?

Thank you, I though that might be the case, I am trying to get it more accurate each time. I did some test boils before I started brewing, at different volumes, but the boil off rate changed when I added grain, and is different for different start volumes. But as I brew more, I will have more...

    Boiling down to Volume?

Hi, Still very new to BIAB, and still dialing in my system. I have been over shooting my target pre boil volume and then boiling down to my final volume. Is this good or bad practice? I normally make heavy chewy dark beers so if the only issue (if there is one) is potential caremalisation...

Did I over pitch = Flat Beer

Ok, Long story but I will try to keep it short. I wanted to make up half a Wychwoods Sundew kit, as 5 gals at one time is a bit much. So I got some 1 gall demijohns to ferment in and made up a single gallon, so touring the excess wort extract (canned) in the fridge, as I was going to 'play'...

    4 weeks and still fermenting

Sorry for the confusion. At 4 weeks the reading was 10:20, 4 days later it was 10:16 Not sure why it took 4 weeks to go from the OG of 10:47 to 10:20. I am thinking therefore it will reach 10:12 in the next 4 days I hope this makes more sense

    4 weeks and still fermenting

Hi, I am 4 weeks in and counting, and it is still going strong, slow, but definitely still going. It has dropped from an OG of 10:47 to 10:16/10:17. It tastes great, so not too worried, but should I be? Think it will be ready in about 4-5 days at current rate

Fermenting in the Brew Kettle - what is is called

Hi, I found on the internet the other day, forgot to bookmark it :(. A brew kettle, for BIAB that had clasps on the kettle/pot to clamp the lid on tight, and the lid was Pre drilled to take an airlock. So in practice , you BIAB in the pot, clamp the lid on, chill in an ice batch add the...

    Immersion tank as a BIAB

Hi, An immersion tank is a large insulated waster tank used to store hot water for the house. Normally it has both a heater element built in, and a built in coil It is a sealed unit, the element heats up the water in the tank, and the houses hot water supply runs through the coil and is...

    Immersion tank as a BIAB

Hi, Could I use an immersion tank for BIAB. I would have to cut the top off, and REALLY clean it, and reposition the element,. But it is big enough, watertight, has a built in wort chiller, and it already insulated. But it is copper, is this an issue? Have any done this, or is it...
