    Frozen Welch's Wine

Icinglass, you can get it where you get your other winemaking supplies. It's not terribly expensive and will clear most wines in a few days.

    Frozen Welch's Wine

Don't forget restaurants. They usually throw their wine bottles away. Ask around and see if any will save them for a day or a week or whatever and pick them up. Hot soapy water, then boiling water...and you've got free wine bottles. A bottle corker is nice, but not mandatory. A rubber...

"Leaving cider on it's lees too long"

Subbed to this. I'd also like to know the answer. I only initially ferment my cider for 5 days then bottle, leave out for one day, then cold crash it in the fridge until I drink it up. I really don't have the fridge space for 5 gallons so for now I'm making it 1 gallon at a time, until I...

Why no 'recycle value' on glass wine bottles?

I have no idea why... but I'm glad of it. Local bars and restaurants are a great place to score some free wine bottles. :)

Is takeing a beer to a bar illegal?

    Strawberry wine

Thanks folks. I appreciate the advice. Looks like I should have joined and asked questions from the start instead of just reading...but I do like to read and find as many answers on my own as I can, then ask about the things I can't find. And thanks for the info about straw colored...

    Strawberry wine

^^^^ So about this...would daiquiri mix give it a more strawberry taste than the strawberry blast does? What about the color? I'm getting a pink color, and with food coloring, I get a blood color. Very pretty, but does not LOOK like strawberry wine. This being a hobby, I really strive for...

    Strawberry wine

^^^Thank you, I'll try this with the next batch. You mean no air lock? Just sealed it up in the fermenter? I'll have to order that. The local brewery supply shop doesn't carry it. I've asked him to get it and he said next time he orders yeast he'll get some...but that was two orders ago...

Hi, I've been lurking around the forum and reading quite a bit. My Dad was a rather renowned local winemaker and liquor distiller in the town I grew up in... so good in fact that during the Eric Rudolph search, he kept the FBI and ATF guys drunk nearly every night without worry about them...
