    Forgot top off water

Ok, quick question. My second batch ever. I cooled the wort, poured it through a strainer into my primary, passed it between a couple buckets to aerate it, pitched the yeast, and capped it. After about 5 minutes I remembered I forgot the top off 2 gallons. I sanitized a bucket and dumped in...

    Yeast starter necessary?

Well I made the starter and the wort is boiling right now. My fermentation temperature will prob be the temp of my house (approx 72 degrees) so undecided to make it up. I can see little bubbles popping up in the starter so I guess it's working so far?!

    StarSan questions

I just had a couple of questions regarding StarSan. Everywhere on the bottle says its toxic and don't get in contact with your skin, don't ingest it, etc. But then in all the videos online people are just spraying it on everything, cleaning out their carboys with it, then siphoning their wort...

    Yeast starter necessary?

This is the recipe: http://www.midwestsupplies.com/boundary-waters-wheat.html The expected final gravity range is from 1.009-1.013. The yeast is the White Labs pitchable vial (the exact strain I couldn't tell you until I got home). Obviously they say it is good to just toss in however I live...

    Yeast starter necessary?

Is there any specific DME to use for this starter? My recipe kit only came with LME, but most of the instructions in reading call for measuring out a DME to water/yeast ratio..

    Yeast starter necessary?

Ok, messed up my first batch and going to try another one. My question before I start in the morning is how necessary is making a yeast starter? I'm brewing up a wheat beer (Boundary Waters Wheat from Midwest Supplies) using a vial of the White Labs yeast. Can I just pitch this in after I...

    Newbie kegging question

That was kind of my question... If I just force carbonation with the CO2 canister, is there any need force any priming sugar? Or do I just crank the gas onto it and that's it?

    Newbie kegging question

Have a dual tap kegerator already that fits two standard five gallon kegs (the kind you get from the liquor store--I'm not sure what those are called--ball lock maybe?). I really want to keg my homebrews when I get finally finish a batch here. My question involves the priming sugar. I've...

    Hello, few newbie questions

My plan was to use a FoodSaver vacuum sealer. I was going to sterilize a bag, pour a gallon of water into it, then heat seal it closed and freeze. I should have a gallon block of sterilized ice when I cut the bag off of it. I would love to use a wort chiller but our water in AZ here comes out...

    Hello, few newbie questions

I think I would just sanitize some tupperware, fill two gallons of purified water among them and drop blocks of that in there...

    Hello, few newbie questions

I made a batch and I think I screwed it up so I want to make sure I have some of the basics covered here first. After the boil I know I have to reduce the temperature of the wort (to less than 80 degrees is what my video says) as quickly as possible. If I boiled 3 gallons, is it acceptable to...
