    I have a ipa S.G 1.061,I left all the boiled hops in the wort ,put in carboy,gonna let ferment for 7 days,then gonna rack to secondary to add oak chips. will leaving boiled hops in wort to ferment will have grassy flavors? I uselly strain the wort before I put in fermentor,but wanted to...

    porter blew air lock, needs more yeast?

    theres nothing on top of wort,its all stuck to the glass,5 gallon batch in a 6 1/2 gallon carboy.been in carboy for 4 days now

    my porter blew 3 piece airlock ,,clouged it up,so i replaced with blow off hose,,bubbled for 2 days then pot 3 piece back on, now the top of carbot is covered with brown stuff,,should i take a G reading to see where it is? or just add more yeast? can u add tomuch yeasy? this is my first porter...

    Pumpkin ale smells SOUR

    I racked A pumpkin ale to a secondary 3 days ago,,took lock off to smell and smells sour,Why would it smell sour? has no mold on top,but has the spots of lil white bubbles floting on top in secondary,,any suggestions please???? :confused:

    I boiled the pumpkin then strained the wort,seems to be good,gonna get A g.reading tomorrow.Tha nks everyone for the input,think im gonna rack to secondary and let it sit for 10 days then bottle. .

    when to rack to 2nd fermintation carboy

    it a ipa,just added second pack of yeast..should i wait till theres no more action or what,first time doing a ipa,,sg was 1.100 terminal is 1.019-1.031 its getting dry hopped also:confused: thanks

    Did I kill my yeast?

    So I added the yeast yesterday at noon...now have activity..all should be good now..kit says to add champaign yeast on day three but im gonna add it saturday night..then when that stops.I will rack to a second fermentoy for 3 weeks then bottle it...any ideals on this?

    I used a kit. batch size was 5.5 gals. SG 1.107+/-...TERMINAL G 1.019-1.031...Alcohol 8.8+/- no I did not add water at end of boil..boil off was about a gallon.

    I put dry yeast in too hot of water.then I put in fermentor..nothing happened..so 18 hours later i sprinkled another packet on to wort..Did I mess up my beer?Its a 90 minute ipa..1.100 was the reading I got after I chilled wort..was that too high.when I took that gravity reading wort was 78*
