    Cleaning a Charred Element

Over the winter I converted to an electric BIAB system. I love that I can stay inside where it is warm, and I've made a few good beers with it. On my last brew I noticed a burning smell and realized the liquid wasn't transferring through the bag quick enough, and that an air pocket must have...

Pops and sparks from burner/bayou classic kettle

Ok, that might make sense. It was raining tonight and I had my setup right at the edge of my garage door. They could have gotten some water on them.

Pops and sparks from burner/bayou classic kettle

Im wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if someone can explain why it happened. I have a 10 gallon bayou classic kettle with a turkey fryer from Gander Mountain for my HLT, and a 15 gallon bayou classic kettle with a Blichman burner for my boil kettle. Tonight when I was heating...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

It's not as fancy as some, but I just finished putting it together today and look forward to giving it a test run next weekend

Using 2 pumps at the same time

Thanks Scott, I was hoping to be able to be able to wire both pumps to 1 outlet attached to my brew stand, and then just have a plug running from the outlet to plug into one of my wall plugs.

Using 2 pumps at the same time

Thanks Ed, I didn't think that two pumps would overload a circuit, but I'm no electrical genius. I thought that I'd previously read something about 2 pumps being too much for one circuit, but I looked all day and couldn't find it, so I figured I'd ask others who have already done it.

Using 2 pumps at the same time

Fly sparring is exactly why I'm asking. That is the only time I think I would be running both pumps, also maybe when I'm running cleaner through the system after a brew. So can anyone tell me if I'll need to run an extension cord into my house to pick up on another circuit?

Using 2 pumps at the same time

I've got a fairly basic question. I'm upgrading my brew system, and I now have 2 March 815 pumps. I am wondering about running both pumps at the same time. Will they need to be plugged into separate circuits? Or can they run at the same time on the same circuit? I brew out of my garage, and...

    Infected Yeast???

Thanks for the input everyone! With all of your reassurance I've decided to use the starters. I was just a little concerned because this was my first attempt at washing yeast, and I wasn't sure why one of them was getting the stuff on top and one wasn't. I'm sure the end product will be...

    Infected Yeast???

So last night I made a couple starters from two jars of washed yeast that I've had in my fridge for about 6 months. I was planning on brewing a few times over the 4th of July weekend since I haven't been able to brew in a long time (hence the 6 month old yeast). Both jars looked fine this...

Thanks for the answers. I've got a black IPA in the keg carbing up right now :)

Keg valve and air purging questions?

I purchased a keg system last week and it just arrived a few days ago. This is my first time with kegging and I've got a couple of questions. 1. Last night I was disassembling one of the kegs to clean and sanitize it prior to filling it with a batch i've had in secondary for a while now...
