Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

Ghunter, when did you bottle yours? 8 months is a long time to tie up a carboy. I was thinking 2 months in carboy at most and then into bottles (unprimed) for an indeterminate time after that ie. until they get good.

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

I've not done cider before and thought I would start with this recipe. Very simple. Mixed everything into a sanitized 6 gallon carboy. Did not boil the sugar but did boil the tablespoon of yeast energizer (fermaid) since it's been sitting around for awhile. Rehydrated the EC-1118 yeast before...

    Spring Giveaway ONLY CANADA customers

Ok, don't fret. I figured it out. Turns out you have to go deeper into the amazon jungle before you get to put in the discount code and get the savings. Ended up getting the ICT-310--sheesh, I always do that, I'm my best upseller.

Anyone know how the "promotion" pricing works here for Amazon orders? I'd like to order the ITC-2000. They give out the "discount code" on page one here but I have no idea how to tell Amazon that. I've made it all the way to the checkout page and nowhere have I been asked to provide that...

    Stuck braggot

Thanks kadozen. I appreciate your input here. Just to update you and all the other onlookers, movement has occurred since I last posted. In fact, it took about 5 days after I added the US-05 and yeast nutrient before I noticed a bubble or two in the airlock. I lifted the garbage bag cover...

    Anyone? Any ideas at all?

    Stuck braggot

I'm still fairly new to this game but have been learning fast. Sorry to hit you with another "stuck fermentation" issue but I would like to try to save this one. I brewed a cranberry braggot (recipe from "Extreme Brewing"). It had 5.5 lbs of DME, 6 lbs of honey, 2 lbs of cranberries (mix of...

Will be brewing oatmeal stout soon

My OG with this kit was in the same ballpark: 1.063. My FG was 1.024, so that gives me an ABV of 5.1% which is ok. I had it in a primary for 1 week and a secondary for 3. The FG did not change all the time it was in the secondary in spite of my rocking the carboy, wrapping it in blankets, etc...

Will be brewing oatmeal stout soon

Good advice, Mouse. Thank you for taking the time to explain things clearly to a relative newcomer like me. I'll be quiet here for awhile but will let you all know how my brew has turned out when I start opening bottles in a month or so (or a bit sooner if I can't stand the wait any longer)...

Will be brewing oatmeal stout soon

Mouse, yes I did rack from the primary to secondary after a week; then I added .5 gallons of water to bring it up to the 5 gallon mark. I can't see how this would stop the fermentation process though. It should have continued on in the secondary, should it not, if there were any yeast still...

Will be brewing oatmeal stout soon

Well, I don't want to hijack your thread but I did promise/threaten an update on my own stout, using the same kit of course. It's been three weeks since brew day and it seems stuck at 1.024. The starting gravity was 1.068 (which may, in reality, be a bit lower since I had to add 1/2 gallon of...
