Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the bottles I've saved. I live in Portugal so the bottles I have are mostly Sagress and Super Bock which probably are not that known outside of Portugal, so I might not find advice for those brand bottles but I'll try measuring the lip. Thanks again

I want to buy a fairly cheep hand held bottle capper and need a bit of advice. Is there anything I need to look out for? Recomended brands? Will it work on beer bottles that I have saved from bought beer?

I think you are probably right, I was just interested. In a fish tank most problems come from using a heater of a high wattage which is why I use more than one of a smaller size if the tank is big. Sanitization should not be much problem as most heaters are totally water tight so could be...

If the heater is okay to use with sensitive tropical fish I would of thought yeast would survive it okay. Of course you couldn't set it too high. Maybe if sugar started sticking to it it would cause a problem. Has anyone tried to put the heater in directly? I certainly can't claim to be an expert.

No, what I was looking at said the actual hydrometer was plastic, but I'll take another look to be sure.

I'm going to buy a hydrometer. There seem to big range in prices etc. Any general advice? Specificly, is glass or plastic better? I'd think plastic is harder to break but is glass better in some way?

Thanks that's great. The pic was especially helpful. Why cant I stick the heater straight into my fermenting bucket? You say cos of the sugar, will that break the heater? I have a heater that was never used so contamination wouldn't be a big problem.
