Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

If this is the Triple Tippel, I am wondering how you did it in two months, when the instructions recommend 6 months or more in the bottle. Maybe your "really nice beer" will actually make it to style aftet 6 months in the bottle. Remember to all those doing Mr. Beer, Time is your friend...

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

I sheepishly stand corrected. :drunk: After posting, I looked back in my notes and found that the boil was supposed to be 70. Turns out, I did 90 minutes for mash and boil. The good news is I had my first one last weekend and it is fantastic, so my mistakes didn't create a poor result...

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

Hammy, I assume that is your method. Fermentation time and temp is different for EdWort as well. For Nephilim, yes, EdWort's boil time on his original recipe was 90 minutes. That is what I used as well.

Ref: LCTitan, unclebrew, and others For temp control, refrigerate your water ahead of time. I have 1 Gal containers (left over from Apple Juice for EdWort's ApfelWein), I store StarSan in them mostly, but for brew day, I pour out into my bottling bucket, fill the jugs with my water, put it...

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

I sampled my first opening of EdWort's Oktoberfest Ale this weekend. WOW, WOW, WOW. I did a taste comparison with several other commercial Octoberfests and found that EdWort's recipe stood up nicely with all of them. It was my favorite of what I compared it to. (Sam Adams Octoberfest, Spaten...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I would say, even if you wait for a kit, you should still get a hydrometer, bottling bucket w/wand, and an auto-siphon. They will help a great deal even with this batch. You can never have enough buckets, you will most likely break a hydrometer, and you can always use 2 siphons for bigger...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Your temperature fluctuations are really going to impact the flavor of your beer. I would try making the "son of fermentation chiller". That removes the water and sanitizer problem. Plans can be found on this site, costs about $45. Also, I recommend you go buy an auto-siphon and bottling...

    Questions about temperature controller

You can buy 6 thermometers and get "at least" 6 different readings. It is also very specific to location and liquid immersion. I recommend using a thermalwell or something like it so you can put the thermometer right in the liquid, that is you closest and most stable temperature. After...
