    My impeller had that "bare spot" on the impeller when I disassembled it for cleaning before I used the BM for the first time - which is why I assumed it was a balancing adjustment.

    Thinking out loud here: Isn't the bare metal on one of the impeller vanes caused when they remove some to balance the impeller? Occasionally they might require no balancing - hence no "bare' metal.

    Better late than never with the reply?? If you are getting a fountain, your mill gap is set too tight. The Braumeister is MORE EFFICIENT with a larger opening than you'd select for other types of brewing. That's counter-intuitive for most of us who used other AG methods before getting a BM...

    Could it just be "static"? We get electrostatic discharge from many items when outside temperature and indoor humidity both drop low during our cold winters. Hopefully a breaker would trip if it were an electrical problem, but a GFCI would be a good addition for piece of mind...

    @ dinnerstick Yeah, the cost of everything in that recipe was F’d up when I imported it. Maybe something I did? :o The last 25kg bag of MO I bought cost me $74 CAD (58.60 euro) = 2.30 euro per kg, my specialty malts are $3.99 CAD/kg, my hops cost from $5 to $10 per 100g. Maybe Bob & Doug...

    Revvy, you and I, no doubt, both employ similar good brewing and pouring practice. It is my friends' practice of poor pouring or drinking from the bottle that's the problem. I should have made that clear in my post. Maybe I should cultivate different friends who are more "trainable". ;)

    I think 87% is about as good as it gets for most of us. That number gets lower as the grain bill approaches maximum malt tube capacity. The default setting on my BC is 1mm (0.039"). I always condition my grain and I found that going tighter improved my efficiencies when using my 10usg...
