Naked City Brewing has a location!!!!!

Finally got a chance to check out Naked City over the weekend. Great place! Really nice atmosphere, great tap list, great food and all around a nice experience. Bonus: They had Boulevard Wheat on tap which I have not had since moving to Seattle from Kansas City a few years ago. My wife was a...

My new E-HERMS / Brutus / Frankenstein build

Yep, the system will be controlled by a BrewTroller, so I'll have PID support on each element. Looking forward to trying it out! In build news... Finishing drilling and punching holes for the HLT. I now have my 2 HERMS coil holes, a liquid return hole and the heater element hole. Didn't...

My new E-HERMS / Brutus / Frankenstein build

Typo... :) I decided I'd switch the BK and HLT elements the other day but forgot to update my specs list. I did a bunch of math (none of which may be right) regarding heating elements and decided it made more sense to put the 5500 in the HLT.

My new E-HERMS / Brutus / Frankenstein build

Hi folks! I am building an almost fully automated electric HERMS and I've pretty much gotten past the buy stuff, buy stuff, buy more stuff stage so I thought I'd start posting about it! Here's the specs as they stand right now. They change hourly :) * All electric HERMs brewing system...

    Will these ssr's work?

I'm in the process of building an E-HERMS and am using Auber Instruments SSRs for my elements. http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=30 $19 for a 40A SSR seemed like a pretty good deal to me. That side also sells high power contactors. My plan is to run...

Stainless steel braided mesh for covering cables?

Anyone know where to get stainless steel braid for protecting wires in sizes smaller than 1/4"? The Auber temperature probes I got have this really nice stainless braid over the wires that is only about 3/32" in diameter and I've been trying to find something similar. So far the smallest I have...

Building an electric brewery, need some HERMS advice

It's not good for the pump's motor to be cycled very quickly, like more than once every few seconds or so. I'm intending to do the same - have a PID in the MLT just to see temps and have my system look uniform. It'll also be good to have the thermocouple for datalogging maybe later down the road.

Building an electric brewery, need some HERMS advice

That's the impression I was left with from kronik's post as well. Recirculate constantly and adjust the temperature in the HLT to adjust. That's the plan I am going with for my system right now but I haven't tested anything yet. Still shopping!

Building an electric brewery, need some HERMS advice

Hi all, this is my first post to this forum but I've been lurking for a while and have read a *ton* of posts regarding electric brewing. I am in the process of collecting gear to build a 10 gallon, all electric brewery. I had intended to build a HERMS system loosely based on the Brutus 10 but...
