    Flavoring Question

From what have heard, If you are going to use the vanilla extract, you can add it in the secondary. Take a sample of your beer and add the extract in measured amounts until you hit your flavor target. Scale up for the full batch volume.

    Rate The Setup!!!!!!!

That is basically the same setup that I bought and it is pretty complete. If you don't already have a better resource, you will want to buy a better brewing book that provided in the kit. If you use teflon tap, you can turn the tube that your hydrometer came in into a nice wort sample tube...

    Show me your conical cooler!

At this point, I don't have a spare room or under-stair nook, so I probably leaning towards building a freestanding fermentation closet. I figure that planning on running coolant lines from my kegerator. I am pretty sure there are been some pictures of a like system on the forum. ALSO...

    Show me your conical cooler!

Heaven help me, the day has finally come. My brand-new 14.5 gal conical fermenter has arrived. Since I placed the order for this sublime piece of brewing machinery, I have been brain storming how I am going to cool this thing during fermentation--the bath tub is no longer an option! Please...

When you guys feed your beer, do you always use sugar, or have any of you retained some of your wort in a sanitary vessel to use during the feedings?

    Home Depot/Igloo Drink Cooler Closeout

ahh.. you guys got my hopes up.. Apparently, it is a regional thing. In the Kansas City area, they have been selling the Rubbermaids for about three years now. They don't even carry 10 gal versions.

    Help me spend some money(wisely)!

Unless you think that you will have a need for an extra 40qt pot in the future, I suggest that you buy big enough that you can brew a 10 gal batch. I spent a fair amount of money the last few years stepping up my stockpots to accommodate larger and larger brews. If you think that you might...

Gonna be growing hops this year!!!

You will always want to start growing from rhyosomes. If you plant from seed, you could get male plants which do not produce hop cones at all. Be sure to place your order for the roots early on. The lists fill up pretty quick and you could get stuck waiting another year.

Well, with your income, I doubt that you will even see much of that 800. What is it, households over $200,000 get partial or no payout? Thanks for the donation.

    Mashing with CO2?

HSA? Oops, my fingers didn't type what I was thinking. My concern was with oxidation in general. Sorry to point this discussion in the wrong direction.

    Mashing with CO2?

I understand that brewers should be restrained with their stirring of the mash to avoid hot-side aeration. Couldn't you just flush out your tun with C02 and then go to town with the mash paddle? I would love to build some kind of automatic agitator ( similar to the the one a laundry washing...

    My first stuck Fermentation

Did you add any table sugar to your recipe to get the OG you were shooting for? It might just be that your yeast have become to lazy ( unable ) to process the maltose. Just a thought...
