Thanks. I'll do some simplifying and tweaking for Wednesday. I like a little more hoppiness so I'll definitely boost that one. My 1.111 had 111 ibu's and it wasnt very hoppy. Time to hop on beer smith for some work!
I figured my grains were needed to be simplified but I wasn't sure where to go. It ends up at 1.12 with the grains and the extra fermentables. How would you change the hops?
Last year I blindly did an 11-11-11 Eleventy that was judged very well. I followed a great suggestion on feeding 2 different yeast additions throughout fermentation (dogfish 120 style) and it turned out great. I'm doing completely different grains and hops for this 1.12 beer. Please give me...
I had the same issue...about 15 good batches then 2 in a row bad bandaid flavors. It wasn't the water as my source didn't change, but my cleaning practices were weak. I got rid of old hoses, soaked everything in cleaner before each batch (I used to rinse well and sanitize but sanitizing and...
If it doesn't carb after 6-8 months, pop the tops, sprinkle in a few grains of dry champagne yeast, recap, and swirl. I had a 13%er that exhausted all of my yeast and wouldn't carb after 7 months.
Brewed this last night. Starter pitched at 9pm, krausen blowing out my starsan pitcher by 12 noon. I'm glad I have it in my basement shower! Unfortunately my temps are high at 73 and I don't have a tub for the ice bath. Hopefully it doesn't end up with a big booze burn. Thoughts?
I made some...
I love smoking a pipe as it makes the stupid crap that I say seem intelligent when holding one. My only issue with smoking while drinking is it seems to burn my taste buds and mute the beer's flavor. Suggestions!
It's cold break that made it into your fermentor that has co2 bubbles in it from the beginning of fermentation making it lighter so it floats. After a heavy fermentation it should break up and settle back down. If not, gently vibrate or swirl (without splashing) your fermentor and they should drop.
Bottled this a week ago, drank my impatient brewer 1 week bottle. Carb already coming in nicely. Perfect amount of hops up front and a nice bready finish. After drinking half of it right from the fridge, I let it warm up for a while and it was even better! I can't wait to see how this ends up in...
