Cut a hole in top of keg, or cut top off?

Thanks for all the info folks, seems like the concensus is hole in top. one of the reasons i was thinking about cutting on the side was overall height. Where i plan on setting this up,head room above the keg will be limited. So I'm not yet abandoning the side cut, but I think the safest way is...

Cut a hole in top of keg, or cut top off?

I was wondering if there is any advantage to cutting the hole in top of the keg as opposed to cutting the whole top off from the side? You would have to locate a bigger lid, and the cutting would take a little longer, but those don't seem to be big enough issues to me? Does it possibly have...

Beer in fermentor for 4 months, Dump?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It was in the fermenter for 3 weeks before I dumped it in the bottling bucket the first time. Also, BemoreBrew, I should have said high SG, not low Sg. Mike

Just finished reading this thread..great job Tiber, and all the contributors! I have only brewed twice, but I am already hooked, and going electric seems like a no-brainer. It will be a few months before I get all my parts together, as a couple of house remodeling projects, daughters wedding...

Hi, I am a new home brewer from Wisconsin

I have been reading this forum like crazy for the past few weeks, so I thought I should introduce myself. I live in WI, and have completed two home brews (pale ale and an oatmeal stout), an I am seriously thinking about going all electric. Thank you all for the great resource! TripleZ

Great thread Steve, Took me two weeks of lunches to get through it properly. I have limited space where I plan to brew and I will use your work(and others you linked to) as a guide. Thanks for all the effort in putting this together! Mike
