    Tripel Conditioning with honey

I have a Belgian Tripel which is coming to fruition and need to bottle it. I have brewed the batch 2 other time and I normally keg but this one I would like to compete with. I added 14 oz of orange blossom honey to this 4.75 gallon batch at light out and think I might be able to use more honey...

    WLP 500 pitch amount

I got it off the bottom of a conical about 1 week through the fermentation of their Belgian Style Triple. I put it in a sanitized 12 oz bottle I had laying around and it filled up to what I estimated to be about 10 oz. The slurry is pretty dense and there is maybe about 1/4 - 1/2 an oz of...

    WLP 500 pitch amount

Good call, almost forgot about Jamil's beautiful tool. It calculated that I should use ~3.5 fl. oz. Does that sound about right?

    WLP 500 pitch amount

Hi all! I put together a nice german style recipe and decided to pick up some fresh yeast from a local brewery, thanks again to the guys at Iron Hill brewery in Montgomeryville PA. They hooked me up with about 10 oz of fresh WLP 500 Chimay strain yeast. They were using it to ferment a...

What to brew for son's first birthday party

I'm going with everyone else here and saying Kolsch, and for the more beer-hearted a solidly hopped IPA. My birthday is in a just a few days here too, so if you need any quality control I'd be more than happy :).

    Keg Shelving

Hi everyone! I work at a distributor in Bridgeport, PA. We want to build at sixtel rack and 1/4 barrel rack. We want the sixtel rack to hold 7-10 kegs and the 1/4 barrel rack to hold about 6. Has anybody built something like this? What is a nice, space efficient design?

Immersion Chiller Fittings Just Leaked Hose Water into Wort

RDWHAHB. Happened to me, had no issues. Try to keep that lid on as much as possible though.

Free beer stuff (no actual stuff here)

Ask your local distributor when their "favorite" rep comes in. The "favorite" is usually the guy who gives them the most free swag. I picked up a free Hoegaarten neon on Friday from a Bud Rep. XD.

Harrisburg to Philly - Brewery Tour Plan

Yuengling is in Pottsville.:cross: If you end in Philly, you should definitely add Yards and PBC to your tour.

    Layout Stout

Thanks everyone! This post made me realize a lot. I ended up going out to my LHBS and buying Designing Great Beers by Ray Daniels; hopefully this helps me with my drastic mash percentage issues. The Marris Otter Malt seems like a great idea. I want to look in to that. I will post again once I...

    Thomas Jeffersn's Beer

Yard's does a wonderful job recreating these revolutionary ales. I have had the pleasure of indulging in a few and must say I definitely recommend them. If you like those, their PA and IPA are just as great. My co-worker and I plan to take a tour of their brewery soon, maybe when the city...

    Layout Stout

6lb Munich 2.5lb 2-row .5 crystal .5 black patent .5 chocolate would this work better, you think? I think the Munich and 2-row could be inter-changeable, however, I'm looking for that malty/smoky flavor in this one. Thanks for your replies, they are greatly appreciated
