So I brewed coconut porter just toasted my coconut and dropped into a hops sack placed into the secondary. My question is how do I removed all the small floaties of coconut that escape the bag before bottling?
I am making a coconut porter. I have 10oz of fresh coconut I was going to put into the boil my dilemma is to toast the coconut or not before adding into the boil? Ill drop at least 12oz into secondary toasted. It's a extract with specialty grains thanks
Update on the coconut chocolate stout! It came out pretty good, just cracked it open today... It's a nice dry stout with a hit of coconut and a nice light smell of chocolate. I didn't add the creme de coco just did the coco powder at flameout and 8oz of coconut toasted and placed in a mesh bag...
Coconut extract sounds good!! I would think that the coconut water would add a little flavor to it when added at flameout but I'm not sure if would be worth the cost to taste reward. I think I'm going to stick to at least a pound of toasted organic non sweet coconut into the secondary although I...
So my next beer is going to be a extract with specialty grains coconut porter, I want a HUGE coconut flavor in the beer, can I use a can of coconut creme or coconut milk at flameout or during boil to help enhance the coconut flavor? I would then add the organic toasted coconut during secondary.

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to let it sit in the primary for a little while longer and then let it bottle condition until the flavors blend to my liking.
So I made a chocolate stout, extract with specialty grains. It's been sitting in the primary for 10 days now and I was wondering if a secondary was necessary before bottling and letting them sit to carb for three weeks. I got the supplies at my LHBS.... I would bottle on day 14
Sween, I don't enjoy the smell or taste (long story) of piss so I'm gonna stick with the toasted coconut flakes and maybe extract at the secondary. Thanks for your advice!
I have wanted to do a coconut porter and this sounds perfect!! So what's the verdict of adding coconut water at flameout and about 1lb of toasted coconut to the secondary of this recipe has anyone tried that? Results??
