    Wooden Barrels

Fruit wood seems like a good idea. I was going to use it for fermentation, secondary and aging. Thanks for the input. We will test it with water first of course.

    Wooden Barrels

A buddy of mine is interested in making some wooden barrels for his home and asked if I wanted him to try and make one for fermentation. What woods would be interesting? I was thinking spruce or maple. We don't have a lot of hardwood trees in our area so those are a little more expensive...

Entered a beer at the County Fair

I don't know all the specifics of the score, but I have a second place ribbon. I'm super stoked. I will have to wait until the fair is over to see the score sheet I suppose, so in a couple weeks I'll know what they liked and didn't.

Entered a beer at the County Fair

Thanks! I will post up what the beer scores. I should know by the 9th of September. Paper work had to be in by today, and beers dropped off at the LHBS on the 23rd - 25th of August.

Entered a beer at the County Fair

I entered it as a fruit beer. If I had entered it as a Kolsh, some poor judge might have a heart attack and call Germany on me :D http://www.spokanecounty.org/Fair/SIF/data/pdf/Competitions/beer11.pdf I'm super excited, I don't know what to expect at all. I plan on going to the fair the...

Entered a beer at the County Fair

I've been brewing for about three years, made some good beer, and a couple great beers and one really crappy beer that I can't drink and I can't seem to bring myself to pour out. Anyway, I made a beer, Huckleberry Kolsh that I feel turned out this time. This is my second try with...

    Bottling Wine?

I'm thinking about making some wine this summer. Can I bottle wine in 22oz beer bottles? Or do they need to be corked bottles? I have a place to store them in the basement on their sides.

    Kegging question - Schematic?

I went to a Barley Wine (commercially available stuff) tasting last Tuesday and had a very good time. The host had a keg of his stout also out. I liked the setup! Now I'm thinking about kegging my homebrew. One keg looks easy to set up. Multiple kegs looks more difficult. Is there a...
