    Under carbed help

As a follow up. I was bottling a 5 gallon batch of an abbey ale. The f.g. was at 1.015. I went to make up my priming sugar solution and, of course, I only have a third of a cup of sugar in the house. Everything else was ready to roll so I just went with it rather than run to the store (I've...

    Starter for mead help

Just an update, I brewed my mead and pitched the starter on Sunday. Everything appears to have gone right.

    Starter for mead help

Cool, you might be right. As I said, this is my first starter and I'm using an old juice bottle and the stopper fits in but it isn't a super tight seal. Yes, it is cloudy and fizzes when I added more nutrient. I guess it smells like yeast, I have a bit of a cold. I'm doing a starter for a beer...

    Starter for mead help

Well, I bought the yeast a couple weeks ago. It came in a smack pack which I pulled out of the fridge the night before. It was fully inflated when I pitched it. I added a little more honey and 1/4 tspn of yeast energizer last night and tried to shake a little but the energizer got really fizzy...

I think Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are the way to go. But, they have a bit of a learning curve and aren't cheap. There is a free software called Inkscape that is sort of a illustrator-lite that you might look into if you don't already have illustrator and aren't ready to throw down the...

    Craft labels are too "busy"

I kind of agree. I really like some Flying Dog beers but I didn't even try any of them for a long time because their labels are so ugly.

    Show Us Your Label

This was my first beer label. I made this last Spring and put it on a Biere de Garde. I actually did this for a design class so the assignment involved creating a brand. This is Biere de L'enfant.

I know you are just kidding around but the banana bottle looks really great.

That looks awesome on the bottles! I agree. The label looks fine alone but really really good on the bottles for some reason.

    Howzit gang?

I'm a home brewer with about a year and 8 or so batches of beer and mead under my belt. I love beer but I'm interested in mead and whatever else is different like maybe sake and chicha. Looking forward talking about brewing. My name is Steve.
