My experiment was a success. The beer is great, SOOO drinkable. and Brewmaster's Warehouse was awesome, just 1 click for ingredients and 2 days later they're at my door. This is on tap now at my house (though not for long, hah)
I'm the same as kman. between my personal favorites and the seasonals i like to do, my kegs are always full. I have room for a 3rd tap, I guess I should upgrade.
I need to modify my chiller. Used a full 50' in a single coil (about 3 rings stick out above my wort) This double coil looks like a much better option.
Wow, I've been looking to upgrade. Can't wait to see some pics of this setup. Just bought a new laptop so might be hard to convince SWMBO on this, but after seeing some pics, I'll think about it.
THAT is an interesting brew! It kind of looks like blood! haha. I'll be very interested to see what this looks like in glass and more importantly how the flavor turns out.
Brewing this as a two fold experiment! 1, trying my hand at a Bitter and 2, I've always shopped my lhbs for ingredients. Going to see how Brewmasters Warehouse does with ordering these grains and hops.

+1 for this. You don't want to read my depressing story of loss and terrible sadness over the spilling of my Double Chocolate Stout last year do you?
tl;dr version, cheap taps gummed up, lost an entire batch to the garage floor.
The perlick's would have paid for themselves in the cost of...
So my homegrown Cascade version turned out stellar. I was a little underwhelmed at first, but after giving it a few weeks in the keg to fully carb, it is tremendous. Not as bitter as I would have imagined for a pale ale, but my cascade could be on the weak side (didn't get an AA test). Overall i...
Its that time of year again. Another 5 in the can. Still crack this stuff out frequently when I want to get smashed with class. Have a half gallon from last years brew I'm saving for Thanksgiving!

Thanks for that link. I too have recently purchased a monster mill and I need to get it assembled/motorized. This was a great read.
Too bad the sheave and motor prices aren't still the same as they were in 1999. :p
Brewed this today using my homegrown cascade. Only modification I'm making is a 1oz dry hop in a secondary (because I had an extra ounce from my harvest). hehe.
Will post and let you know how it turned out.
Yup, been under 50F since brewed, its almost time to drink it. Honestly this is the longest I've ever waited to drink a brew, and being my first lager attempt, I'm really hoping it turns out nicely.
