Help Me Seal A Weldless Hole Too Big

Ok, I got it fixed. I had previously tried taking the outside washer out, but that hadn't worked, so I put it back in. But when I saw the leak coming from the locknut/ball valve, I knew something was up. So, I determined that there weren't enough threads on the 1" threaded nipple for the ball...

Help Me Seal A Weldless Hole Too Big

Ok, upon closer examination, it appears the water is leaking from between the ball valve and the lock nut...I taped my threads really well...any other cause for a leak in that location?

Help Me Seal A Weldless Hole Too Big

Two questions. 1) Bobby, are you saying just try and remove the outer washer altogether? I know my method is the Blichmann style, which may be why it doesn't work for sanke kegs. I was scared of overtightening on the o-ring. 2) if all else fails, can I have the hole welded shut and redrill...

Help Me Seal A Weldless Hole Too Big

I'm building my electric brewery according to Kal's specs. Well, like an idiot, I drilled my hole (only one so far) to 7/8" instead of 13/16". Now, I don't get a lot of leakage, but I do get some. I have my coupler on the inside, a washer, the kettle, the silicon o-ring with a washer around it...

    My FULL-ON electric build thread

Where did you get that sink at? Just wondering as I shop for mine. I would love a drain shelf to the left...

Help Me Install A False Floor With A Drain!

It's about 72" wide (the way it will slope).

Help Me Install A False Floor With A Drain!

If I did that, I could actually install actual brewery style drains the width of the room and have the rest covered in a plastic or industrial water proof paint...good idea! I wonder what the best way to get the slope would be...I only need a miniscule amount of grade, I suppose.

Help Me Install A False Floor With A Drain!

Hey guys, I am currently converting my three-seasons room into my brewhouse. I am about 35% into my electric build, and I really need to have some drainage. I don't want to permanently tear up the floor, so cutting it is pretty much on the way back end of the list. I was thinking there has...

Electric vs Natural Gas Homebrew Setup Cost

i'm at this weird point where I keep jumping back and forth between Kal's control panel and a much more modest one. I have been making lists of the absolutely necessary functions/features, and basically it ends up as Kal's every time. With kids in the house and a fairly decent responsibility to...

Electric vs Natural Gas Homebrew Setup Cost

That's freaking awesome, P-J! Thanks a ton for working that up for me! I know the electrical setup that you mention will be a breeze, like I said, he's willing to do whatever I want. He's actually having an electrician come out exclusively to wire up my brewing setup. I will simply tell him...

Electric vs Natural Gas Homebrew Setup Cost

Hey Tiber_Brew, do you have the plans you used for your single tier build? the ones that made "building a breeze"? That would really take the guesswork out when I have my stoner welder build it. He usually gets off track midway through and I end up with a really cool, half functional...

Electric vs Natural Gas Homebrew Setup Cost

I will be brewing all grain exclusively. I have three sanke kegs that are being polished and fitted with a sight glass, thermometer and ball valve each, all weldless. I will be running two pumps as well. For power, I talked to my landlord (who is really strangely into helping me build this...

Electric vs Natural Gas Homebrew Setup Cost

Hey guys, I've been here a little while, mostly reading, but I think it's time for a post. I am at a very important crossroads here. I am really debating whether my homebrew setup will be electric, natural gas, or simply propane. Living in IL, I would like to retain the possibility to brew...

"polishing your keg" is more than a clever euphemism

I just bought all my supplies today, I wanted to get all my kegs nice n' shiny in preparation for Bobby getting stocked up on those lookin' glasses again. Well, some jack@ss stole the nut out of the backing plate, unless of course it doesn't come with one. Either way, I spent the latter part of...
