Calculated IBU's are only one aspect of how bitter the beer tastes. Anytime you add hops the perceived bitterness increases.
If you want something more bitter than pliny or runation you have to increase the IBU/OG ratio.
Shoot for +100 IBU's, lots of late hops, dry hop, and a FG around 1.010...
Is everyone mixing the dough by hand?
I've made pretzels a few times and only end up with like 8. Would love to do bigger batches but my 4.5 quart doesn't look like it could handle much more and the pretzels need a lot of kneading.
After reading through this thread I'm still a little unclear as to how you guys are calculating the cookies additions.
Revvy mentioned using only the listed sugar content on the box, did that work? Or do we have to take into account some flour being converted.
Thanks for any clarification.
I started experimenting with beer right after I turned 21, more out of intellectual curiosity than real love for the product.
Samuel Smith's nut brown was the first time I was blown away by a beer though.
I'm also interested in when you plan on getting amarillo back in stock.
Planning on buying a few pounds of hops from you for the summer brew season and amarillo is definitely one of my favorites.
+1 on bargain fittings.
Some of the parts you need for a manifold are hard to come by. Went to a bunch of stores before I found all stainless washers and all stainless hose clamps. Only saved a few bucks.
