    Wyeast 1968, chunky cheese!

Here's my 1968 starter. I absolutely love this yeast! It clears so fast. This is 10 hours into the starter. Stepped up from an 800mL.

    Wort Chiller Diameter

Ah, but I know you want to... hehehe. The first run my chiller ever had was in my wife's spaghetti pot the night it got finished. I just couldn't wait for brew day.

    Wort Chiller Diameter

Good Job Mendozer! Have you tried it out yet? Gave it a test run in a pot of boiling water? Heck, while I'm at it. Here's mine.

    Heat source for wort

You can use a lamp without any negative effects. Incandescent bulbs won't have any impact on your hops. It's the flourescent bulbs that will cause skunking. But there is always a heat wrap for your carboy. Here's a link for a wrap and temp controller.

    Boil Kettle Dimensions (DMS issue?)

I was just wondering if there was a connection between the dimensions of your boil kettle and how vigorous of a boil you need to blow off the DMS precursors? Does a Tall/Skinny kettle need a more vigorous boil than a Short/Wide kettle because of the added height some of the volatiles need to...

Keezer Build - With a Twist

Have you considered having a section of the bar directly attached to the freezer lid? That way you could just lift up the bar to get to the inside of the freezer and you could put the tower right there on top, no need to have exposed lines. Something like just incorporating this right into...

    Immersion Chiller build question

I used an old pan. Building a Wort Chiller « ND Brew But as long as it doesn't restrict your flow too much, you shouldn't have any problems

    Brewery names--what's your story?

It's just my initials, but I think it conveys the style very well. ND Brew (Indie Brew)

    20 Minute Boil

This has all piqued my curiosity. As far as the malt is concerned. 20 minutes is fine. It's the hops that are the constant source of debate/concern. What is it I want out of the beer? I could boil as directed and the beer would be too bitter. I could adjust the size of the 60 minute...

    20 Minute Boil

How much would the 2 oz addition at 20 minutes compare to a 1 oz addition at 2 minutes as far as the flavor is concerned? Perhaps 1 oz at 45 minutes just for bittering is a way to go, I'll play around with the numbers in ProMash. I'd have to say I was kinda looking forward to having a brew...

    20 Minute Boil

I posted this over at my blog, but since I don't get much traffic and I would like some pointers, I'm going to re-post it here. Sorry for the lame ctrl-c, ctrl-v move, but it was just too easy. Next up, Cream Ale. I figured it was about time I tried brewing something below 15 SRM. Who knows...

    Wee Heavy

My next batch is going to be a Wee Heavy (Northern Brewers extrat kit) I'll have 12lbs of LME as my fermentables and plan on making a 2L starter. SG should be somewhere around 1.083 My question involves conditioning. Do I rack to a secondary and let it condition there or just do it in the...
