After my first boilover I started using Fermcap and haven't had one since. My last brew was 8.5 gallons in a 9 gallon kettle so I think the stuff works. :)

Helibrewer, Thanks for the advice. I put on the blowoff tube and it held up fine. I'll always start with a blowoff tube from now on.

It's about 65 degrees in the basement there. I put 5.5 gallons in the 6.5 gallon bucket.

Does anyone know if a 6.5 gallon Ale Pail will fit inside a 10 gallon orange Gott/Rubbermaid cooler? Would this be a good option for keeping the fermenter cool during summer months? If so, how does one go about it? Can you just put in ice bottles or do you have to fill it with ice water...
