    How long in secondary?

I have a pale ale with papaya in secondary right now. The OG was 0.045 and the gravity when I racked was 0.01. There's about 8 lbs. of papaya in the carboy with it. Should I just wait till it clears a little, or should I wait extra time for the fruit flavours?

    A Beer Miracle!

I had bottled two beers, a Coffee Porter and Elbro Nerkte Brown on the same night. I made a huge mistake by not sanitizing the priming sugar beforehand, and while the first few bottles were great, they started to become incredibly sour and, quite frankly, undrinkable. I decided that they were...

    Papaya Pale Ale Help

Wow, I might actually need to add another whole papaya, considering that it's definitely light in taste. I was actually thinking about adding a whole coconut (milk and shavings) to make a sort of tropical effect, but that should probably be saved for a later beer :mug:

    Papaya Pale Ale Help

No airlock for my gallon jug

Whew, that's a relief. Can I just screw the cap on after fermentation subsides?

No airlock for my gallon jug

I tried my hand at making some hard cider tonight in a one gallon jug. I used apple juice, 1 lb corn sugar, and various spices and pasteruized it at 180 for about 20 minutes. When I went to put my airlock on, I found out that the bung I had been told to buy at my LHBS was too big. I just put...

    Beer Boycott

It's actually not that hard in Vancouver, because we're in the pacific northwest. Although the Molson plant is here (and Coors has bought out several of the mid-size breweries) we have a number of great craft breweries and plenty of bars that serve their beer. I personally like Phillips and...

    Papaya Beer

What should I do to pasteurize the fruit? Should crush it, steep it in hot water, then add it to secondary?

    How did you find us?

I had a friend who was homebrewing and put up links to this site. Very glad that he did, because I would have ruined my first batch had I not taken the advice from this site. . . hooray HBT!

    Papaya Beer

Hey everybody. . . I want to brew a beer with papaya added during the last few minutes of the boil. Can anyone tell me a good recipe to add this to? I was thinking about a pale ale, but anything that would taste better is welcomed. My LHBS has a great grain selection, and i'm going to do an...
