    That smells GOOD!!!

    i think the the aroma is part of the grains, and mosty hopps. i have experienced the carmel like taste with my alt-beir. congrats on a well-brewed batch, & keep the fermenter full.

    Gravity measurements

    if its in a bucket use a flashlight to see where the krausen is at. You should be able to use the light on the other side of the bucket, and look through to see inside.

    Sanatation Techniques

    I use bleach & lots of people disagree with that. I got the mix from "The Complete Joy of Home Brewing" the bible. Rinse to keep the off flavor away. I'm a noob but it works for me. Back in the day they did not have any sanitizer, other than boiling the water.

    Getting the hops out of the wort?

    try irish moss, it's cheap and ez to use 1 teaspoon per 5 gallon batch, put in about the last 10 mins. of your boil.

    I use my wife to cap after I bottle. She dose a good job with the free capper, if she can use it any one can use it,lol. We only had about 3-4 caps that didn't work.     Santitation Questions

    I use a bleach mix /w water. you don't need much bleach, check a homebrew book for a solution mix. & i rinse with a mild warm tap water, let it dry. Just think that when people 1st learned how to brew all they had to sanitize with was boiled water...
