    Yeast allergy and Beer help?

No insenistivity taken. I respect your openness. I too have a throne in a library for similar reasons. Bread did affect me, especially home made breads, until I got the Candida imbalance under control. As I said previously, finding that out [which took six months and two totally unrelated...

    Yeast allergy and Beer help?

My issues include upper abdominal swelling, eosinophilic esophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome, candida [fungal/yeast] flare ups, etc. I've dealt with this for decades, through which things have changed so I can't quite nail it all down. The worst was finding out about the Candida imbalance...

    Yeast allergy and Beer help?

All my life I have had high allergies, including yeasts. I would never really drink beer because the leftover yeast would always cause a reaction in my gut that I had to tolerate for days. Light beers like Rolling Rock, Corona, etc. don't affect me as bad as others, and quality of product does...

    Baseline Neutral beer recipe help?

Sounds like a winner to me, and that seems the way I will proceed in my adventures. Thanks so much for your input. I have my first brew fermenting as of last night. Did it according to the book, so we shall see how it goes. One thing I've settled on is that I need to change over to propane...

    Baseline Neutral beer recipe help?

Great reply RPM - that's what I am looking for. I'm not looking to drink the base product per se, but am trying to remove other flavors as much as possible so when I add a particular hop, barley, or yeast, I can get those flavors to learn the differences in several options. For example of one...

    Baseline Neutral beer recipe help?

I figured since this is the recipe forum I'd ask here instead of the newbie forum. I am working on finding a baseline beer recipe to which I would experiment with the different options available. I need a baseline that would allow the individual flavors of yeasts, hops, malts, flavorings and...

    Basic Recipe for experimenting

This might have been posted somewhere else on this site, but it's escaped me. However, I wanted to share in case someone else wanted a 101 article. Hope it doesn't step on anyone's toes. Hopefully this is a bit of return on investment with me. Thanks all! -Stills...

    Basic Recipe for experimenting

Thanks for the time. What little experience I've had has been with dry yeasts of the bread variety, nothing of the brew specific yeasts. I've learned to re hydrate my yeast prior to pitching. I've never worked with a liquid yeast. Stills.

    Basic Recipe for experimenting

@bleme thanks so much. This is great info. My basement stays below 72 degrees year round, drops to 54 in the winter no matter how cold it is outside and 72 no matter how hot it gets outside. Right now its wavering between 66 and 68 degrees. Is there a good article or source of information on...

    Basic Recipe for experimenting

Regarding Hops, with this recipe pattern, where do the hops come into play and at what percentage? Is there a link to the discussion of hops timing? I reviewed the American IPA by @Dgallo . Is there a play by play detailed rundown article on brewing recipes that explains what is what and how...

    Southern Illinoisian here

Fort Donelson was in Tennessee on the cumberland river that Grant was travelling up to take Nashville. When all the other commanders and troops fled the fort, my family was one of the few that stayed to stand against Grant's forces. He was taken captive and transported to the prison camp at...

    Basic Recipe for experimenting

Thanks folks for the replies. I really didn't know where to start with what I was looking for so I just referenced what I know. I will look into the SMaSH recipes and the pale ales. At this point I am only setup for really small batches, using recycled water jugs as carboys [I like...

    Southern Illinoisian here

That's near Mound City. My great great confederate grandfather died there during the civil war when he was defending Fort Donaldson and captured by Grant forces as he was getting to Nashville. Is there any monuments for that prison camp or is it mostly forgotten history?

    Basic Recipe for experimenting

OK, I am looking for a basic foundation of a recipe I can use that will be as neutral as can be. I don't know if its possible in the brewing world, but in the distilling world, its like a basic sugar wash. Something that will produce a very neutral spirit, not quite vodka like, but something...
