Hi all, my first ever gallon of mead is nearly a week old in the demijohn now. I was wondering, do I have to rack it into a another demijohn at some point? Or can I just keep it where it is for 6 months?

Hi there, started brewing my first batch of mead last night and I was wondering, does the cap on the airlock need to be on or off? It just came to mind as it is bubbling up nice but I can't see how any air can get out with the cap on.

I did not heat the water but will do from now on :). I just gave it a good shake and now looks much better. Thanks for the advice!
