Beer Tools Pro vs. Beer Alchemy

Not a bad idea that one.

    Beer Alchemy

Having looked into it, the POTENTIAL tag isn't a required part of a BeerXML file as defined in the documentation. http://www.beerxml.com/beerxml.htm BeerAlchemy exports the YIELD tag which is the required field. As the POTENTIAL tag isn't required it can't really be said that BA isn't...

Here is the entire email conversation with him. You can decide if I was rude or not. The only edits have been for his email address and the overlong email signature...

    Beer Alchemy now on iPhone!

Essentially the functionality of the app is the same. The main difference is that the app makes better use of the bigger screen and there's a lot less forward, forward, forward, back, back, back through menus. Both apps have most of the functionality of the Mac app for a lot less money - the...

You could move your recipes into a DropBox folder. It's not 'officially' supported but seems to work Mac to Mac. Just don't use the app at the same time on more than one Mac - all sorts of bad things might happen. Dropbox is free for its basic package.

Yes, I'm here. I do try to reply to emails but some do slip through the net. I do read all of them though. What's your real name and I'll see if I replied to them? There have been six blog postings since October 21. The blog did move around then though so you may have an old link. The new url...

    Hop conversions in BeerAlchemy

If you have all your hops entered in the inventory and you have the app set to use an 'inventory-aware' batch editor (the default-check the preferences), then the app automatically adjusts the bittering hop amounts so that you get the same IBUs as in your recipe with the hops you actually have

Why don't you download them and try them out? BeerAlchemy and BeerTools Pro have free demos.

    Beer Alchemy... no Maris Otter?

Beerrific is correct. IIRC I took the specs for the UK 2-row pale malt from a maltster's (probably Fawcett's) Maris Otter. To be honest, in terms of specs that BA uses, the main UK cultivars are pretty similar (unless you're using a low color Maris Otter that is available over here).

    It's just for recipes.

I have no plans to support other devices.

You don't actually have to back out after each individual change as if you make multiple changes they will all be saved when you back out. The only time this doesn't happen is if you make a bunch of changes then kill the app without going back a screen. The lager and ale categories are just...

    Beer Alchemy now on iPhone!

Maybe I wasn't clear either, if you buy BeerAlchemy Touch then, when the feature is released, you will get the calculators for free built into the app. If you just use the free app (BeerAlchemy Viewer - not yet available) then you will still need to buy BrewMath if you want those calculators...
