Show us your DIY wort chillers

The first version was not dense. But the result was so good that I built a new one with twice the number of tubes. It cools 25 liters (6.6 gallon) from 90 ° (195 ° F) to 25 ° (77 ° F) with 50 liters (13.2 gallon) of water that I then washed the equipment in. The flow was not more than 3 liters /...

I have recently got access to a laser cutter, so this is a test to see what it can do. The manifolds är cut in stainless steel, the tubes is brazed to the manifold and the top and bottom of the manifolds is TIG welded. I have two project at the moment (beside working), I want to learn how to use...

    Keg to Bottle Feedback Wanted

I've been just where you are now. When I started brew beer, I made some ale, some porter and a stout. But my favorite is lager !! I looked up what was available to buy and tried to find a way to brew with that. There was a lot of stuff to buy but it did not fit together. Cornelius kegs was to...

    Blacksmiths show your stuff!

Another thing I've done is a small Christmas tree, this summer I put new doors in the barn, but the hinges were so worn out that I made new.

    Counter pressure bottle filler

Will rent a car when I'm in San Francisco, but Riverside is probably not within my reach. Too bad, it would have been nice to meet an American Brewer.

    Counter pressure bottle filler

Hi Are there any home brewer in San Francisco that want to test my bottle filler? I will be there on vacation the last two weeks of September and it will be fun to meet. I can take it with me, it does not take up that much space. What do you say? Shall I take one with me when I come?

Additions at bottling inside the bottles

Yes it works well. I tried with lime leaves in a Mexican lager. After one day there was a fresh hint of lime in the beer, but after 3-4 days the beer tasted perfume.:(

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

I used my garden shredder:) I replaced the crushing wheels against a self-constructed mill wheels. I tried with a gap of 0.8mm, but had to increase it to 1.5 mm for good results. It is not fast, but I do not need to stand beside when it grinds.

Blending mashes with grains at different temps vs step mash

It is the best beer that I have brewed! The taste is crisp and clean and no of flavour at all. I added the honey and FG landed on 1.008 Very nice. After this I have brewed a Kingfisher clone the same way with ratio 1/4. But I can´t say if its the same result yet, it´s still in the fermenter...

    Confession Time

No, the beer are just getting better for every time I have used the yeast. Normally, I get a FG around 1.010-12 but the latest time I have got 1.008-09 with the same OG. I don´t even wash the yeast, just pour the yeast cake in to a jar that I have in the fridge. I only use about 7 oz of yeast...

Blending mashes with grains at different temps vs step mash

I made this experiment last weekend with the Carlsbergs clone I found here https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=208040. I took 2/3 of malt bill in 16 liters (4,2 gallons) of water in 70°C (158°F), mash 40min, then cooled with 8 liters (2,1 gallons) to 62°C (144°F) and added the last...

    Adding honey to primary

I brew lager with honey. When I add honey to the wort, I do it after a few days of fermentation. I mix the honey with 1 gallon of wort that I have removed from the fermenter before the yeast is added. So you can say that I have a 4 gallon yeast starter for my gallon of honey wort:)
