Question on diptube with recirculation on boil keggle

I'd be more worried about half the surface area as yours... Possibly leading to a clog.. Yours seems to be covered on both sides.

Question on diptube with recirculation on boil keggle

Okay great info milldoggy, do you think the added surface area from top and bottom would work better than attempting a false bottom made from your suggested mesh in brew kettle similar to that of a mlt?

Question on diptube with recirculation on boil keggle

The app doesn't show signatures.. finally took a look. I like that idea. What, if anything, is the advantage of this over a false bottom? :tank:

Any word if this holds the 6.5 gallon glass carboys? Kegs overtook my ferm chamber and now I'm in need of a new one.

Question on diptube with recirculation on boil keggle

In short, yes I could trim my dip tube to pull from the side. The negative of this would be losing half quart or so of wort. If that's the preferred method then I will do that. Waiting for more input as once cut theirs no going back without buying more stainless. Filtering seems possible though...

Question on diptube with recirculation on boil keggle

I have been leaning towards a CF chiller. It seems like less maintenance over a plate chiller. I'm more concerned about the whirlpool and diptube at the moment. Even with a CF chiller that in theory will be restriction free from clogging, im still down to the fact that I invested in the...

Question on diptube with recirculation on boil keggle

Well, I'm coming to the end of my single tier 3 keggle build and now i'm imaging/visualizing a brew day and I've come into 2 possible problems, that more or less go hand in hand. My brew keggle is equipped with a diptube and recirculation port from brewhardware.com (along with sight gauge...

"polishing your keg" is more than a clever euphemism

very true went ahead and order plenty to get the job done and then some since they're not locally available. Wish I would have noticed this idea before i polished my cornys on my stationary buffer. That was a workout to say the least..

New fermentation chambers to show off brew buckets

Love this! What's the over all available height? My original ferm chamber turned into a 4 keg fridge so I need to look for another option with summer approaching. Would a 6.5 gallon carboy fit with 3 piece airlock? At least until I can upgrade to these fermenters..

"polishing your keg" is more than a clever euphemism

*Blows dust off of thread* Lots of reading going on.. I'm slowly building my single tier keggles! :ban: So many questions but im starting here polishing the kegs that took me 6 years to find legally. Anyways.. I've polished my first keg with med then fine pads. Easily noticed that med pad...

unwanted high gravity of a stout?

Yeah, I think I over think things. Top off was about 3/4 gallon. I mean with an extract kit I can't really over shot a gravity since sugars aren't being converted. In future I'll take pre top of gravity and then calculate top off

unwanted high gravity of a stout?

I just brewed a canyon cream stout.. The gravity came in a 1.065 after I had topped it off to slightly over 5 gallons. was something along the lines of 16 ounces of specialty grains @ 170F for 30 min 6 pounds of liquid malt extract @ T60 mins 1.5oz Kent Golding @ T60 mins 4 ounces of...

Is using Hop Extract "Craft Brewing"?

So the first beers were brewed with wild yeast and no hops at all.. just some fermentables.. to me a craft is something that is tried, changed, CRAFTED, and perfected, at least until something new comes out where you then rinse and repeat. So yes, hop extract is craft brewing, as craft brewing...
