Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to measure IBUs (the actual procedure)? I work in a chem lab so I should have most of the stuff needed, or at least access to it if it is easy.
Thanks!
These are useful if you just want to transport the beer somewhere (friend's house or something) but not much of a long term solution. I also use them to empty a keg if I need to fill one.
Just put them on a 2L soda bottle and fill it up with beer from the tap. Then put this cap on and...
There isn't anything wrong with that. I screwed up my first batch by only making 5 gallons and now I'm almost out. Buying ingredients next week though.
I'm the same way, so what I did was just left stuff to go back to HD in my truck with the receipt, then the next time I was there I returned everything. Of course I've got plenty of extra stuff lying around from when I didn't want to even bother with that.
Not sure about that, but what we do is just make it with the normal recipe. Then I drink it like that, and my wife adds a little bit of apple juice to the glass when pouring to sweeten it up a bit (and cut down the alcohol too).
Might work for you.
I've only been kegging a while, but for moving them I think it works fine. People bring kegs to our local club meetings all the time. As for room temp beer I wouldn't be a fan unless the room temp was a chilly basement. I would wait until you can get a fridge or try something like the...
I second craigslist. Search everywhere nearby to you and you might get lucky. I got a 20# tank & regulator (with a fridge) for free just by checking at the right time. [I'm in a college town and got it at the end of the school year from a landlord who found it in the rental unit & didn't want it]
I would go with both. When I bottle I use a mix of bombers, smaller swing tops and plastic bottles. I use the plastic ones for the beach or for mailing to friends (not going to break, and they weight less).
