Are 5 min hop additions necessary if you're dry-hopping?

I've heard strong opinions both way (dry hopping negates 5 min and under additions or they don't). I agree with llarian though. I do under 5 min additions and dry hop.

    Do I need a starter?

After my last brew I poured the majority of the yeast/trub mixture from my primary into a sanitized plastic container and stored it in the fridge for about a week and a half. I am brewing again tommorow and plan to re-pitch this yeast mixture. Do I need to do a starter or can I just warm up...

    sediment at end of keg

    is this common?

    Too much head

Easy solution: get 6 ft of 3/16" line and you should be fine. That is basically what all the websites and equations on balancing will tell you anyways. I had two short of line and I would have "beeruccinos" every time. I got 6 ft of 3/16" line with my fridge at 36-38 and my tank at 13 psi and...

    sediment at end of keg

So I have read and seen that sediment comes out of homebrew kegs in the first couple of glasses. In my current keg, I have started getting very sedimenty glasses and the keg is just about done. I did pick the keg to check how much was left and this may have contributed. But where was this...

    Balancing with cobra taps

Midrex- I am currently running tow kegs at 12-13 psi with no foam with 6 ft of 3/16 line. My fridge is at between 38-40 dgrees. I had 4ft of line for a couple of months and had super foamy beer. I was serving homebrew for new years eve so I bought 12ft of line (six feet for each keg) and...

    CO2 Cylinder

I had never heard of this. Maybe that is why my first tank ran out so fast even though I could find no leaks.

    Taking kegs off the tank...

As long as the kegs do not leak they will be the same when you reconnect them.

    too cold

So it is winter now and if I leave for a day or two my house gets down into the mid 40's to low 50's, too cold for my ale yeasts. My fermentation stopped completely when I was gone for the weekend, my house was at 46 degrees. When it warmed back up and I shook the fermenter and it began...

    Corney keg lid seal

So if you guys fill your corney kegs with liquid and do not pressurize them and hold them upside down, liquid does not come out around the edges of the lid?

    Corney keg lid seal

Maybe I worded that wrong. Unpressurized they will not hold water. When I was cleaning them and would tip them upside down, liquid would seep out through the o-ring that seals the lid. That is why I was wondering if I pressurized them if the pressure would push up on the lid and o-ring...

    Corney keg lid seal

Hi all! I just got some used corney kegs and CO2 equipment given to me. I got everything cleaned up and I am almost ready to start kegging. One question first. When I latch the lids closed on my kegs (without pressurizing the kegs) they are not air tight. Do the lids become air tight when...

    Has anyone tried this regulator?

Thanks Yuri Rage and Johnsma22! I just ordered it. I actually ordered the one like in the picture with the splitter for pushing two kegs at the same time. Johnsma22 what kind of fridge is that? Looks like its a compact but still has room for 3 kegs and CO2. Lucas

    Has anyone tried this regulator?

I was thinking about ordering the MicroMatic premium, double-gauge CO2 regulator found here: http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/regulators-pid-642.html It looks great and has a dial knob for CO2 input control rather than a set screw. Does anyone use this or any other regulators from...

    Where do I start?

I'm sure this question has been asked countless times in this forum but..... I have been brewing for around six months and have always bottled. I was just given a kegging setup-CO2 tank, multiple corny kegs, regulators, lines, everything but the fridge. My question is where do I start? My...
