    Grain Mill questions

It's not like it's Celiac's disease, so it won't kill her. The allergy isn't "severe" at all. In fact, she is just looking to reduce gluten, not eliminate it.

    Grain Mill questions

So, I've brought up the grain mill purchase with my wife ever since I started brewing all grain, all to no avail. NOW she wants to start grinding her own flour since she is on a gluten free kick, due to a newly discovered allergy. Is there an adjustable 2 roller grain mill out there that we...

    Booster?

Unfortunately, it appears you've got an infection. Nothing pre-boil/during boil should cause that. It's usually sanitation after boil that would cause this. Did you properly sanitise the Mr. Beer keg and EVERYTHING that comes in contact with the boiled wort? Spoons, lid, mixing utensils...

    Waking up yeast in bottles

I usually add my sugar water solution to the bottom of my bottling bucket and use the auto siphon to create a swirl while it's transferring. I'll also use my plastic mash paddle as well to give it a gentle swirl.

Built and brewed my first recipe from scratch

In regards to your OG @ 1.056. If you took the sample and the sample was 90 degrees the corrects OG would be 1.060. 85 degrees is 1.059. You say you added water to 72, did you pull the sample after you added the water?

MR BEER KEG sighting! :) I would carefully use the spout on the MR Beer keg and rack from under that.

Angry at home brew store owner!

Probably doing them a favor... Let them get processes down and learn about the basics before they dive into all grain, which could be overwhelming for a new home brewer...

    uh-oh?

When it comes time, I would sanitize ALL my equipment, and use some sanitized device to poke a "hole" in that mess and rack out from under it. I had something like this on a Moktoberfest that I made and I racked from under it. It turned out to be one of my best beers ever... BUT, ANYTHING...

    Post your infection

I'm pretty sure you're right, BUT I also think that it requires oxygen to grow, something it's not going to get in the bottle, correct? It's going to be consumed quickly as soon as bottle carbing is complete. I didn't keg this batch, because I want to give it away before pellicles start...

    Post your infection

I had a Lacto infection on my Oktoberfest that must have occurred during my transfer to secondary. I've since replaced all of my hoses, and did a bleach bath on my auto-siphon. What I did when it came time to siphon from my secondary carboy to my bottling bucket was I first poked a hole in the...

American Lager Pottsville Common (Yeungling Lager Attempt)

I'd throw in between 1 and 2 pounds in this. 1 pound for a 5 gallon batch, 2 pounds for a 10 gallon batch.

    All grain Rye IPA

That looks drinkable and delicious, but almost 16 lbs of base malt? Wow... (in a good way, wow) I'd be almost inclined bump up the rye contributions a little...

American Lager Pottsville Common (Yeungling Lager Attempt)
