    Pumpkin Beer

Wow! Not everyone reply at once. Changed my recipe a bit, decided to go with a can of Coopers English bitter, 1 pound of crystal 40, 4 pounds light brown sugar, three smaller cans of pumpkin with spice, and 1 ounce of cascade hops for 60 min boil. Then cooled it down and threw in some US-05...

    Pumpkin Beer

I was thinking of taking a Coopers English Bitter, 500 g of dark DME and about an ounce of cascade hops and then adding some pumpkin purée with spices in it. Thought I would boil the DME and hops and pumpkin for about half an hour then adding it to my Coopers English Bitter extract, then using...

    Alberta, Canada Hops?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew, what kind of hops, do I see growing in some peoples yards? I live in Southern Alberta, Canada and I have a buddy that has hops growing in his yard like crazy, they looked really nice last year, from what I could find out, was that they may be Humulus...

    Best Beer/homebrew ever?

Hey, just wondering what your guys and gals favorite store bought beer is? Also, have you ever tried to clone your favorite beer and if so, did it work out? One of my favorite brews is a Hoegaarden style witbier, I ordered an All-grain kit from British Columbia, and it was awesome, it was spot...

    Does Straining Wort Affect OG?

Its possible that you thinned your wort out slightly. Were the temps the same both times? temp will also have an impact on OG, also had it settled before testing your gravity. There are numerous reasons why you did not reach the target OG. but 1.045 is still pretty decent.

    Freezing yeast

I recently made my garage floor IPA with the other pack of yeast I froze and it worked great. I had OG 1.052 and my FG was 1.007. Therefore freezing yeast doesn't appear to have much if any effect on its effectiveness.

    Sparging method for BIAB !

Can't believe as a senior member, you would recommend squeezing the bag, worst idea ever. You should never squeeze the bag, sparge if you really need too, squeezing the bag will release tannins and cause terrible off flavours. You may have lucked out when you did it.

I add 8 litres of water cause its comes as a 15 litre bag of pre hopped wort, to make 23.

Dry Hopping Festa the Brew West Coast IPA?

hey, I have done many Brewhouse beers, which are virtually the same idea, except I have to add extra water to bring it to 23 litres. I dry hopped a cream ale with 2 oz cascade pellets for a week, and it was delicious, still think about that beer sometimes. Use 1 to 2 ounces of either cascade or...

How to bottle prime when FG is higher than expected

I think if your gravity holds for a few days, you should be fine to prime. I would would just prime as instructed or use a priming calculator for your style of beer. 1.020 is fine, no bottle bomb worries at this point.

    Freezing yeast

Quick Update. Well, I brewed my first all-grain beer (BIAB) method on Sunday, thought it went pretty well, the wort smelled and tasted great already. My first hiccup was making my strike water a bit to warm (165f) and it only cooled down to 155f when I was done mashing in, so I added a little...
