MYPIN TA4-SNR Help needed - Temp display wrong and goes down when heat apllied

Red and blue wires indicate it is a Type T thermocouple. No biggie, they work just fine on the Type K setting as long as you adjust the input correction. They usually read a few degrees high so you have to adjust the reading down 2 or 3 degrees. At least that's how my controller performs. I...

MYPIN TA4-SNR Help needed - Temp display wrong and goes down when heat apllied

If you have a thermocouple it looks like a type J to me from the colors. Type k thermocouples are red and yellow.

    Cfc

I was able to find all of the copper parts at home depot. The trick is being able to slip the tee fitting over the inside pipe. I found this drill bit rasp at the HD too and used it to drill out the obstruction in the fitting. Using cutting or drill oil helps. The obstruction is actually where...

    Mold on oxygen stone

You can boil it to sanitize it but i would wrap it in foil and throw it in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 or higher. Dry heat sterilization is your best bet unless you have a pressure cooker to "autoclave" it for 20 minutes.

    Manual PID tuning oddities.

[ From the horses mouth. Proportional band is in % not degrees. I stand corrected on how the Mypins express proportional gain. It is not in degrees as I had mistakenly remembered. It is in %. Looking at the manual linked to above the input range for a PT100 on Mypins is -199 to 600 °C...

    Manual PID tuning oddities.

For those of you who are not sure how the PID settins are expressed in the Mypin let me explain. Maybe this will help out anyone that has a mypin and are trying to get their process dialed in. With the Mypins the proportional gain is expressed in degrees, not percent like some other...

    Manual PID tuning oddities.

Did you run autotune while mashing? The controller will purposefully overshoot the setpoint during autotune

    Manual PID tuning oddities.

Let me add to my previous statement about the Mypins I have that do not working correctly. In no way am I biased and yes, i know how to tune PID controllers. It was a significant part of my education and i am responsible for tuning at my employment. Maybe the 2 controllers I have are faulty but...

    Manual PID tuning oddities.

I've had the same experience with the mypins. They don't tune like the should. Your best bet is to replace it if you want proper PID control.

Re-using Bottles from Lacto Infected Batch?

To be safe you can sterilize them in your oven. As long as the bottles heat to 170 deg Celsius for 30 minutes you should be good.
