In the end it seems all four of my rhizomes worked. Centennial and magnum are up to the second floor balcony and cascade and chinook just sprouted last week. Any other updates?

For those who were involved in the group buy, how are your hops turning out? I've only had two of four come up and at this point I think the other two are a lost cause. So my Magnum and Centennial worked but Cascade and Chinook didn't.

I was trying to use up some odds and ends of malts and hops so brewed up this batch... it's bubbling away now but I'm bored so I thought I would share the recipe to see what everyone thinks. If you've got any advice or critiques feel free to share. All grain, 19L batch, OG1.053, WLP090...

I heard back from Toronto Home Brewing and they are willing to ship to Japan but depends on the size of the order. They didn't give me any specifics though about what is a big enough order. They have Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Fuggle, Hallertau, Kent Golding, and Williamette on Pre-order...

I do smoke malt. I was just thinking about trying something different and was wondering if anyone else has tried it.

Has anyone tried something like this before? I was thinking of cold smoking some hops (pellet and leaf) using sakura wood (Japanese cherry). I'd probably smoke the late addition hops and maybe even the hops I use for dry hopping. Any thoughts on this?

There are always those sized kegs on yahoo auctions. Usually Sapporo, Kirin or Asahi kegs.

Have you done any side by side experiments to prove that there isn't a loss of flavor or aroma?

I have no problem at all with bringing 28L to boil on my propane gas range in the kitchen. If I'm doing BIAB is takes 15 mins for full boil. If I've used my mash tun then it takes about 25-30 mins to reach a full boil.
