What are your tips for keeping costs down

Using extracts saves buying all kinds of boiling equipment. Buy DME in 50 pound bags either from ebay or Amzn. Buy 1 pound (minimum) hops same place. Tap water from hose works for me. Use Grolsch bottles with silicone replaceable seals. Dump hot wort into ice cubes from fridge. Only real...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Have a tri-motor Cybertruck on order, can't wait! Will sell the Tundra truck and Prius when it arrives cuz it will be the best of both. At least the same MPG (so to speak) as the Prius but it can carry/tow what a truck does. For me perfect, stainless steel, aero design, fast, no oil change...

    Two Month Break

OK I wasn’t going to bring it up but since others have mentioned diet/exercise I’ll suggest that you Google “autophagy“. Good idea to treat sugar as poison as well, can’t personally give up bread so not saying that. Autophagy can help heal many things. Youtube Dr. Berg for a great explanation.

    Two Month Break

Sounds like you better follow the doc's instructions. Thot of this a long time ago before anything happened. Solution was to brew light weight stuff ... have been doing 3% IPA's for years. I never mention this to anyone who drinks my stuff and have never heard a negative comment. Funny thing...

    Stainless fermenter... yes or no?

Happy with the new Anvil SS 7.5 gal fermenter tho it has a quirk. For some strange reason it will not drain the last 4-5 inches. To remedy this we slipped a length of small dia hose over a broken airlock ... gets things moving with lung pressure. To cool it I hung a dedicated window A/C unit...

Ace Rotomold 15 gal fermenter, plastic stand

Parts are the obvious SS ball valves, I used 1/2 in fill valve and bigger drain. You'll have to haunt your local plumbing store or big box hardware store to get the plastic parts to reduce the big threaded bottom end to the size of your SS drain. The most important item used would be the SS...

Got free bottles to give away? Post 'em here!

Have a few 24's of clear Corona bottles complete with super durable plastic Coca Cola cases that we get with our imported Mexican coke. Search "Heavy duty cases" in this "for sale" forum. Florida 32967

Ace Rotomold 15 gal fermenter, plastic stand

It's called "mule tape" the phone companies use it to pull cable long distances underground ... rated for something like 1500 Ibs. Suppose someone could use a small(ish) gauge of rope as mule tape isn't found just anywhere...

Florida Heavy Duty case for bottles

Originated as Coca Cola cases out of Mexico, these are sturdy, they don't make em like this any more ... have 30 or more. Priced at the princely sum of FREE and have a few cases with Corona bottles yes I use clear bottles and know it's wrong, no lectures. Not shipping them so if you live...

Ace Rotomold 15 gal fermenter, plastic stand

Been meaning to show this fermenter/stand and poor mans cooling system. The fermenter is of course familiar with most, however the stand is PVC and portable. Wracked my brain for a week on how to NOT use wood for the stand. It lives in an un-used bedroom where an old bed sheet was tucked around...

    Best kit prices

Listerman brewing sells huge 33 lb jugs of malt extract for $69.95 (what I get) they also do large bags of DME. They have a website that I used to order thru but after a day of website problems decided to call. Glad the call was made cuz they have stuff that the site site never mentions like...

    Question about Coopers Lager

Wow you've been all over this site and went back in time a good spell .. note date. It's all good tho as beer is beer and nothing changes much. I can't drink or even taste beer while bottling the stuff - so the short answer is yes it will improve with some bottle conditioning.

Please tell me your tips for dry hopping in a carboy

I drop the hop (pellets) in the primary and 4 days later we bottle. Only once did it give trouble but just the last few bottles... I "back blew" some air in by mouth to free it up. Nobody ever said "hey this beer reminds me of bad breath" ...

    Free Bottles

As I remember there were dry counties all around that area ... Love Huntsville! When Intergraph was jumpin back in the 80's my wife was a big wig there, we almost moved ... had a nice place picked out on L. Guntersville. Didn't happen.
