I am preparing to brew a big sweet stout (1.085 Target OG) using Wyeast's Rogue Pacman yeast (of which I have one smack pack).
According to the Mr. Malty calculator (see screenshot below), I need 3 Liters of starter to fully attenuate.
All of my starters to this point have been 500-1000ml...

The size of the particles produced during grinding is determined by the distance between the fixed and spinning grindstones. There is a lever on the back that allows you to control the depth of the axle shaft of the motor itself. So far it looks like I have plenty of latitude from course grind...
Ok, not really, but I have re-purposed an old wheat grinder that my mother in law had sitting in her garage. I haven't seen many of these around and never seen one used for grinding grains for beer.
