I added a couple of cans of frozen cranberry concentration to a keg of apple cider for my wife and her friends.
Tasted great for about a week but within a few weeks all the sweetness was gone and all that was left was the tartness of the cranberry. It actually ended up being a dumper...
I did my setup very similarly to the original picture on the first post although I used enough clear silicone to seal it waterproof. After about 10 brews I added a bit more silicone as it was cracking with movement(cleaning the keggle). Although I will probably take it apart and inspect it now...
As the Op I would like say thanks to everyone for their info.
I would buy from Jaybird in a second but I have access to a state of the art machine shop and the material is free. All I have to pay for is the hinges. Which by the way I have no idea where to find SS ones.
Oh and I do plan on...
Except that I am getting it made and was hoping to get them both made at the same time.
I was hoping that someone with a 15 inch false bottom that uses a stand would chime in and offer a measurement.
I am getting a 15 inch false bottom made so I can make Keg Mashtun.
What height should I get the stand made for the middle of the false bottom so that it supports the weight of bigger beers?
Cheers
Hahahaha now I am questioning everything I have done. Maybe I missed something and you can double check for me.
I have the Auberins PID Model: SYL-2352
It says 12V DC control
I used this diagram from P-J
It is a Fotek 40a
I have one 5500w ULWD element at 220v.
On a side note I noticed a faint plastic burning smell a couple of brews ago. I inspected the whole control box and couldn't find a chard wire. It must have been the SSR. I think I am going to cut it apart and see what's inside.
Maybe but I don't think that was my case. I have a heat sink attached, thermal grease and fan blowing air right at the heat sink. I personally think it was the $5 ssr.
The 15 gallon Demijohns were originally used for wine. Some LHBS sell them. They come in baskets and are usually expensive.
Take a look at kijiji or craigs list and you can usually find them really cheap. I picked up the 8 I have for around $10-20 each
After I siphon the beer out its actually only a few lbs. Rinse with the bottle washer, soak over night with oxyclean and a quick scrub with the carboy brush.
The glass cracked so I taped it .... lol just kidding
I reused the insulated pad from the other demi (it's actually 4 generation which is why there is so much tape)and just added more painters tape. There is indeed a temp probe underneath.
Yeah it's a 15g demi. This is my 46 batch all in the demi's. The Krausen always rises but not usually this high. I mashed low to make an easy drinking summer ale.
I pump in from the kettle and the fermentation chamber is high enough I just siphon in to two cornys when it's ready.
