Food Grade Silicone Sealant for Brew Stuff

No problem. It probably is ok, I just wanted to mention my experience.

Food Grade Silicone Sealant for Brew Stuff

According to DAP, they have no products that are safe for prolonged food contact. Apparently, there are two standards, one for prolonged contact and one for incidental contact. I called their number and talked to a rep about it. You can see my posts on this here...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

For those that have an old freezer with the 'cut in' and 'cut out' screws, I wanted to let you know that I have decided to make an ebay aquarium controller for mine, but the same process should work. I have given up on mine because the max temperature seems to be about 34F, as soon as I turn...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

I have been trying mine. I turned the screws (both) 4 turns warmer and let it sit. The temp was at 10F after about 12 hours. I turned them 3 more times warmer this morning and will check late tonight. The only issue I may have is the temperature swings. If the screws aren't linear, the...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

I have an old chest freezer that has the same thermostat and wondered if you guys had made any progress. I am going to try to change the 'cut in' and 'cut out' screws to warmer settings. They should control the range of temperatures the freezer will allow before the compressor comes on, the...

    Heating elemet terminal temp?

Just so you know, the 200 is in celsius, so you won't have any problems with the silicone at all. I just built my heatstick with this sealant andv Gritsak's method. I haven't used it yet, but the method he uses is great, and cheap.

My method for sealing a heatstick

I agree. If it doesn't kill the fish, it shouldn't kill us I would think. They're smaller, so it would take a lot less. thanks again

My method for sealing a heatstick

I hate to bring up more controversy than is necessary, but I have been told by the people at DAP (using the 1-888...) number on their products, that they do not have any silicone products that are food safe for prolonged contact, only intermittent contact. I found this out because I couldn't...

    Extension Cord for Heatstick

Thanks for the response guys. One thing I forgot to mention was that this outlet was for a wall mounted AC unit. I took a look at the plug again, and it isn't a 20A/120V plug, i think its actually a three prong 20A/220V outlet. The sideways prong is on the opposite side of (right if the...

    Extension Cord for Heatstick

I'm having problems finding a 10 gauge extension cord for a heat stick I want to build. Any suggestions on where to look? Am I correct that for a 2000W, 120V heat stick I need a 10 Gauge extension cord, using the 80% continuous use rule? Also, the outlet/circuit I want to use is far away...

    Corny Keg Lid/Valve Replacement

I was kegging a batch last night, and while searching for the leak, I found that it was at the pressure relief valve. I tried tightening the plastic piece, which helped some but did not fix the problem. So I grabbed a lid from another keg, and it worked. So a few questions: I know that...

    breathalyzer?

I have this, it was a gift from an ex a few years ago. It seems fairly accurate, and it is a lot of fun at a party. Who knows how accurate it is, though. They claim a certain accuracy, but I can't remember what it is.

    BMC...the switch-a-roo

I don't know about coors/keystone, but I went on a non-public Anheuser Busch tour at one of their plants with an engineering school group I was in charge of. The plant had a few graduates from our program, and we had a Q&A with that plant's master brewer. They mentioned their quality control...

    Kegging Start-Up Questions

That fridge may not be wide enough to fit two kegs. We would also need to know the depth in front of the hump. The plastic on the door would probably need to be removed as well, a search on the forums will give you plenty of examples. As far as bending the freezer down, not a problem. Take...

    Pumpkin in the mash

I think malkore is talking about Yuri's pumpkin recipe: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f76/thunderstruck-pumpkin-ale-ag-extract-versions-26699/ The general consensus in that thread was that it was delicious and that you should use a lot of rice hulls (1 lb for 5.5 gal batch, I think).
