    Review: SSBrewTech Chronical 7Gal Fermenter

Any further thoughts after using a few more times? These conicals seem to be a great value without compromising quality. I'm interested in getting one.

    First Cold-Crash... Need Input

I calculate 1.5 oz of dextrose is needed to get you in the middle of the carb range for an IPA. This is from Tastybrew.com. This is if you have a 2.5 gallon batch and bottle it at 72F. Don't worry about bring the beer back up to temp in regards to your cold crash. It will still have served...

    First Cold-Crash... Need Input

I would let it come back up to room temp for a couple days 60-68F. This will make your calculation much easier but more importantly the yeast that will be using the priming sugar will be able to carbonate in a reasonable time. Once it is in the bottles you are to leave it at room temp to allow...

Slow carbonation in bottle after gelatin

Yeah see how it goes. You could always use a couple different bottle caps to see if those bottles have any more or less carbonation compared to the ones you are questioning. Let us know what happens.

Slow carbonation in bottle after gelatin

I wouldn't be afraid to add more yeast and then recap them. This should not lead to bottle bombs. This scenario is created when you either bottle prior to the yeast finishing fermentation or if a wild yeast starts to take hold and metabolize sugars that your brewing yeast wouldn't normally...

What pump for a keg/carboy washer?

Here are the pics I promised. Sorry most of them are sideways, I'm not sure how to change that as this app insists on loading them that way. Anyways, in the pics you can see the return line I added to reduce the flow rate to the riser. I haven't found that I need it for this reason, however, I...

What pump for a keg/carboy washer?

I did get a pump. I bought the clean water pump from Harbor freight that I linked to earlier. I decided to go with it because it's 1/3 hp and according to the specs does Not contain oil in the housing like most the others. I have washed about 4 cornies and 1 sanke without a problem yet. I'll...

What pump for a keg/carboy washer?

I think this calls for a picture. I'm always interested in beer porn.

Slow carbonation in bottle after gelatin

I would say 1/4 to half a packet would be plenty for a 50 bottle batch. It just might be hard to estimate this when doing it.

    How do I start.

An esb is pretty straight forward to brew. That would be a good starting point.

    copper immersion chiller color

Yeah it is oxidation. I normally just try to rinse mine off in star san while brewing but ultimately I'm not too picky about how it looks when I dunk it in the wort.

video of the "finished" brewery a "brewmagic clone"

Sweet action! Fire it up! Out of curiosity, why did you decide on a dual electric/gas system?

Slow carbonation in bottle after gelatin

Most likely the gelatin did its job and pulled the yeast out of suspension and out of your beer. Therefore, there is not a sufficient amount of yeast cells to carbonate the beer in a reasonable time. I have used gelatin but I only keg so I can cheat when it comes time to carbonate. It sounds...

    Runners and other athletes

Good to know I guess. I remember reading of a HBT member who was considering or actually was using starsan to sanitize equipment he had for his dog kennel. It's always nice to extrapolate the information you learn from this hobby into other areas of life.
