I finally received a response, from Marcus' wife saying he has been in and out of the hospital for the past couple weeks. Hopefully he'll be okay.

Still waiting. He sent me an email saying he'd be out for a couple weeks and that he'd have someone send it, but i've yet to get anything. Its been over three weeks since he said that and I can't get a hold of him. Frustrating since I built my new house with a gas hookup and had this ordered...

have you considered an arduino? i've used one pretty easily with the 1-wire sensors and am able to query the temp via serial (usb -> serial). I've never used that usb part. if you want i can give you some of the code that i have. the libraries make it really easy to use now.

i have it setup like this post shows. I'm using an Auber PID with SSR and 1500W element. I could probably circulate faster, but usually i'm running full bore.

does anyone have problems with the element having burned wort covering it? mine will have crusty black stuff every time. brew comes out fine though.

So Auber was really awesome. I sent back the PID, they told me the sticker was on backwards. They refunded my shipping costs and sent me a new PID. Works great! Thanks for the great service Auber!

yeah i checked the RTD probe and the resistances were fine. turns out the controller is bad. They had me short pin 4&5 and set the Sn value to 0. when you do that it should read ambient temp, instead it was some screwy number. Sending it back tomorrow :P

I've got it wired as instructed. Red wires to 3/4 and white wire to 5. I also tried every other combo. no dice.

also, i realize it was in manual mode, but it doesn't really seem to matter what setting i put it in, it won't do anything, not even switch the SSR on.
